Greetings from Gembu!
The past month has been an interesting one for sure! God is working and blessing in so many ways here! We are thankful!
On May 14 we woke up to a Saturday morning hoping to get a bunch of small projects done after a really busy week and found black smoke pouring out of our Administrative Office! We were so thankful that no one was injured in the fire or trying to put the fire out! We were also thankful that the fire started next to a cement wall rather than a wood wall. Saturday we were able to get the electrician to come and rewire. On Saturday and Sunday Dan and Dauda checked and replaced, and re-ran networking wires. On Monday morning, many staff were there helping clean, our awesome cleaning department was scrubbing the entire inside of the building and our carpenters replaced the ceiling pieces that had melted or burned. Last Saturday, Felix, our painter painted the Conference Room, Lobby, and Hall. Our Carpenters finished our new copier stand on Tuesday and on Thursday our 2 new copiers/printers arrived! Exactly 2 weeks after the fire it is all back in order and wonderful. This was not, of course in our financial plans right now and all in all has cost us $2,500. If you feel led to donate to the project account, please just let us know that it is for fire costs and we will apply it there. We also appreciate the immediate outpouring of prayer support we have received, we can really feel those prayers and it has encouraged us immensely, thank you for partnering with us so well!

It has been wild keeping up with how God is working this month, so bear with us as we give you highlights!
We hired a new AWANA Coordinator to help with ongoing support, training, and encouragement in our churches that are doing AWANA here in our area. He has a teaching and seminary degree and will also be working in our Technical Training Program. We are so excited to be able to hire Exodus in this position! Please pray for him as he will be traveling back to Jos for training with our AWANA missionary and further reaching children in our area for Jesus!
Our Lead Teacher, Purity was accepted into nursing school and left us last week. We are excited for her future and will miss her! We hired Salome, a young mother who is very sharp and an excellent addition to our teaching team! God is so very good, isn’t He?
We had 3 Graduates of our Technical Training Program this month, and 15 new students in our Prep Class. We had so many applicants for this group, that we have about three sessions of students’ applications on hand, so very good!
Demian and our Builders made an outdoor shelter for our Guesthouse and is just finishing putting the grass on the roof. It is a wonderful outdoor space where people can celebrate, or just sit outside and relax!
This next week our finish work in the downstairs of our Hall will be complete. We have 5 rooms now instead of a large open space. The Days for Girls Office, The Training Center (where we do classes) a library room, and we are not sure what we are going to put in the last space yet.
We have 3 new Registered Nurses that have joined the hospital team this month!
We hope to be traveling soon to be at the REACH Conference in June. If you are there and would like to connect, let us know! We love getting to connect with our Partners! We still do not have our Passports done yet! They have been gone for over 4 months! Please pray hard that we get them back VERY soon!
We finished our Bible Study on The Beatitudes and it was wonderful! We also had 4 weeks of How we Got the Bible, this next Thursday we start a Discipleship Program called Zume. We are very excited to see how God will use this training in His Kingdom and it has been so interesting to see how God has led us to this at this time!
Our Prayer Coordinator, Tammy Biggerman had to step down as she is now working for Wycliffe Bible Translators, we are so excited for her, and sad for us! We really need a concentrated effort of prayer over GECHAAN and the ministry here. If you feel the Lord leading you to further His kingdom coordinating a monthly Zoom Call to cover Gembu in Prayer, please contact us. We have felt the effects this past month of not having focused prayer coverage and it is vital to our ministry here!

Staff Person of the Month: Exodus Mbali, AWANA Coordinator. Exodus is a single young man that just graduated from Seminary in Jos. He went to get his teaching degree through one of GECHAAN’s Programs, and was sponsored into Seminary. He is a hard worker and has a passion for Jesus and children!
