June

<<Salutation>>
Well friends!  We were surprised to see that the last newsletter was sent out a long time ago, it seemed like we just sent one out! Where does time go?

Since our last newsletter much has happened!  We have graduated our first session of Prep Class students since Co-vid hit. Three are currently working as apprentices in bread making, tailoring, and computer center. We also graduated four students from the Business Class and they are now starting their own businesses. We have a new prep class with eight students and our after- school reading program is very busy.  We hired another teacher so that we could take more students and she is doing very well!  We are thankful for Purity, she fits right into our teaching team.

We started a new Administration building in March. It is a walk out on the bottom level and two more floors above that. We are at the finishing stages of building it right now. The wheelchair ramp was poured yesterday and painting, tiling, and ceilings are going in. We will move our offices the end of June, beginning of July.  We will occupy the second floor that is level with the Guest House parking lot. We have two Non-government organizations that are working with Cameroonian Refugees renting space in the guest house and another one coming in July.  We have rented out the rest of the space to these other NGOs. This will give us more space in the guest house for guests and move our offices to a more central, more secure location in the compound. Our guest house rentals help us in our goal to be sustainable here.

We had a surgeon, that is a professor, here for a week last month and he will be back in about 10 days for another week.  He is able to do more extensive surgeries and is a wonderful gift for families in our area. They can have surgery here rather than going to a big city saving them quite a cost.  We are thankful for this surgeon and his willingness to serve our people in Gembu.

We are still working on getting our duty-waiver for the next container we would like to bring to Gembu. We are hoping that we can pack it when we are in the States this summer. We have Days for Girls, teaching supplies, medical supplies, and a dental suite that we’d like to get over here.

We are moving forward on the Days for Girls front as well!  We have had orders for kits and have been able to do a feminine health and hygiene talk with the Cameroonian Refugee women.  We have hired Odelia full time and she is working very hard at our quality control and we are making plans to expand the visibility of this in the hospital and clinic.

We continue to pray for missionaries to come and join us in our work here.  There is so much that can be done!  Please pray with us that someone will come to help us start a Discipleship Making Movement.  We still believe that is where God is leading us and we have many Internally Displaced Persons, people from Nigeria not able to go back to their homes,s many refugees from Cameroon as well as the indigenous tribes.

We plan on going back to the States mid-July and will take care of Doctor’s appointments, have Jeanette’s memorial service, and pack the container and get it on its way.
