Well, friends, it is time for an update on the Gibbs. Like the rest of the world, our lives are in an uncertain time, but we know who holds our tomorrows in His hands.
We spent the last 10 weeks on a road trip visiting family and partners in ministry. We were in Connecticut when public gatherings were not recommended. We finished our commitment there and visited with our friend Bill Heaton in Ohio, then headed back to our home in Pine River MN. I have to say that it is wonderful to sleep in our own bed again!
We had a wonderful time as we visited with partnering churches and people sharing what God is doing in our area of Nigeria. Through this whole Covid 19 we see God working through His Children in and throughout the world. Remember He is still in control.
We have been sharing with our partners how we believe God is leading in our new Initiative to reach the least-reached people groups in our area of Nigeria. We ask your continued prayers as we move forward for direction, for additional people to join us in Nigeria and people that will help us build a Consortium in the U.S. to support the initiative. If you have any other questions, please be sure to ask us about it.
We had purchased tickets to go back to Nigeria for April 18. That won’t be happening right now as travel is restricted.
We continue to be in contact with our team in Nigeria they are really missing us as we are them. We are trying to encourage them from a distance but is not the same as being there. They have done an awesome job while we have been gone, but they really need our prayers with this virus and the situation in Nigeria with healthcare.
Now for our Covid 19 update:
· The Governor has restricted travel in our state, Taraba.
· We have a great supply of basic masks at the Hospital.
· We have a limited supply of gloves and are sourcing more.
· Most pressing now will be the space to house infectious patients. We started renovating a building before we left Nigeria for a future infectious ward but ran out of funds. Friends, we believe God is leading us to finish this project ASAP as we will be the only source of reliable healthcare for many miles and will need to separate contagious patients from the rest of the hospital. The things that are left to complete are the tile for the floor, plumbing fixtures, and furnishings.
We know that this is a difficult time for all of us but we are asking you to dig deep and help us finish this building. We only need about $5,000 to accomplish this. We have ordered the tile so we can move forward and are trusting God to supply the funds in time.
