The Racquet Club of Hattiesburg --Club News and Information

October 24th, 2016

To: Stockholder Members – The Racquet Club of Hattiesburg

As we enter the late Fall of 2016, I am proud to announce that our Club Membership now stands at 310 stockholding members of the Racquet Club of Hattiesburg.  Our tennis courts are filling up during peak times on week nights and we see many groups playing during the daytime through the week and on Saturdays and Sundays.  It is great to see so much tennis being played and that our members are able to make use of what we feel are the some of the best tennis facilities in South Mississippi.

With the influx of new members and more tennis play, it is important that all members follow the Club policies that are in place to fairly allow us all to enjoy the facilities we have.

In the last few weeks, I have had two occurrences brought to my attention on the matter of Local USTA League teams hosting matches at the Racquet Club where the policies of the Club were not followed. The matches in question were hosted by teams that are not registered with the Racquet Club to be a host team for League Matches and included players that are not members of our club.

For a team to be properly registered with the Racquet Club to Host local USTA League matches, the Team Captain or their representative are to attend the Captain’s Meeting at the Club before each League season or make arrangements with Club Management to register their team. One purpose of these meetings is to schedule team practices and USTA League matches on our courts in a method that spreads out the weekly use of courts allocated for League Play.  Another purpose of this meeting is to allow Club Management to go over the club policies which include how to handle the use of non-members on the player roster of a Racquet Club Hosting team.

It is important that all members and Racquet League teams adhere to Club policies set forth by Club Management and Directors to administrate the use of courts for League play and the inclusion of Guests. Our Club has clear policies in place that can obtained by emailing our club manager, Jamie Elliott at the Please make sure that you are aware of these policies and rules to protect all of our stockholder members. If at any time, you have a situation where there is a question in regards to Club Policy, I ask that you contact any of our Board Members, Tennis Pro or Club Manager for clarification.

The Racquet Club purpose is to provide the best amenities with our tennis and pool facilities that we can to our members who have made a stock investment and support our operating income with monthly dues. We are open to guest play under our policy guidelines and welcome the opportunity to show off our facilities with non – members.  Just remember to follow all Club Policies so that each member will enjoy the purpose of why they chose to become a member of the Racquet Club of Hattiesburg.

Thank you,
Lath Hairston
