On June 16, 2022, five climate experts and two public interest groups filed a far-reaching Petition to EPA to Phase Out GHG Pollution to Restore and Stable and Healthy Climate. The Petition demanded the phase out and removal of greenhouse gas (GHG) pollution.

Regrettably, EPA denied our Petition, in flagrant violation of the law. Read CPR Initiative's response, Petitioner's response and our November 7 Freedom of Information Act filing.

The Agency's denial left us with few options. So now, we have taken them to court.

Last Saturday, our general counsel Dan Galpern filed a lawsuit against EPA in the federal district court of Eugene, Oregon, on behalf of Petitioners James Hansen, Donn Viviani, John Birks, Richard Heede, Lise Van Susteren, Climate Science, Awareness and Solutions (CSAC), and Climate Protection and Restoration (CPR Initiative).

Our central demand? That the court compel EPA to commence rule-making under the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) to phase out deadly GHG pollution.

This is an enormous undertaking. We really need your engagement and support. Please read our complaint in full and consider investing in this critical effort to safeguard our children's future.

At CPR Initiative, we are determined to protect and restore our planet’s climate system. But we cannot do it alone. We invite you to join us in this fight for our common future. Please make your most-generous possible donation today. All financial contributions are tax deductible. We greatly appreciate your support.
