MusicOntario returns from Focus Wales and The Great Escape 2016!
MusicOntario was thrilled to take part in the 2016 Canadian Blast events at The Great Escape in Brighton, UK, as well as Focus Wales. Our pre-TGE event in London featured the amazing Terra Lightfoot, Pyramid Tropic, Wake Island and L.A. Foster, and our TGE showcases featured Coleman Hell, Frig, Pyramid Tropic, and Sway Clarke! Country Music Association of Ontario Celebrates Provincial Talent at the 2016 Awards Show
Congrats to the Country Music Association of Ontario, who handed out the 4th Annual CMAO Awards. A standing-room-only crowd joined host Jason McCoy at the Flato Markham Theatre in Markham for an evening of accolades and performances by some of Ontario's best and brightest stars. The award show recognized honorees in 14 categories spanning talent and industry, led by Cold Creek Country and Jason Blaine, when each walked away with three awards.
Applications Open for Allan Slaight JUNO Master Class
The JUNO Awards are teaming up with Slaight Music for Canada's premier artist development program: the Allan Slaight JUNO Master Class helps emerging artists hone their craft all the while giving them the tools they need to take their music career to the next level. There's no submission fee required to apply, however, all applicants must be endorsed by an active CARAS Academy Delegate. Click here for more info.
Socan Unveils New Royalties Dashboard
SOCAN has unveiled a brand new Royalties Analysis Dashboard. Music creators and publishers can benefit from leading-edge tools to enable SOCAN members to understand better the trends in royalties earned when their music is played live, on radio, television and streamed on the Internet. MusicOntario in Northern Ontario, Communities Connect Heads To Thunder Bay and Sudbury, With MFM
MusicOntario and MFM presented Communities Connect: THUNDER BAY May 24, 2016, and Communites Connect: SUDBURY May 26, 2016. We were pleased with great turnouts, and thankful for the opportunity to engage local industry and artists. We hope to be back soon!
Canadian Songwriter Challenge Open for Submissions for 2016!
The Canadian Songwriter Challenge is open for submissions from Ontario-based songwriters. The event will take place in Toronto, ON, in late July, 2016, and is a great opportunity for emerging songwriters to co-write with their peers and mentors, while learning about the business of songwriting. Click here to apply. The Canadian Songwriter Challenge is made possible through the generous support of Bell Media. Deadline to apply is June 10, 2016.
