UMBS Garden Produce

The Garden's Growing like Gangbusters

Perhaps it's the advantage from the hoop house Jim Lemoine and others helped build back in April.  Or maybe it's the loving attention of Garden Steward Mira Fishman and the many volunteers from camp.  Whatever the reason, the UMBS Community Garden is producing more food than ever before.  So much food that Laurie Brooke, Dining Hall Manager, says the kitchen is having a hard time keeping up with all the greens.  Not only is the garden filling the salad bar with greens, cucumbers, and peas two meals a day.  It is also providing green and wax beans for cooking and chard and other greens for wilting with olive oil and garlic.  And the tomatoes haven't even started yet!
