The TLBAA office will be closed Thursday and Friday, December 24-25 in observance of Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Our sincere wishes for a Happy Holiday Season! E-Trails will return on Thursday, December 31st.
HORNS 101
HORNS has a feature that allows TLBAA members to upload an image of your animals for display on their profile page. On the animal detail page, you will notice a block in the upper right-hand corner. Simply browse to the image, then click upload. The HORNS system will automatically resize and rename the image to the system specifications. The only requirements for the image is that it can't be larger than 2MB and must be in JPG format.
Also, remember that beginning January 1, 2016, breeders who voluntarily have their bull DNA parentage verified with TLBAA, will have that verification listed in HORNS, as well as designated on the registration certificate. DNA testing is still mandatory in order that the bull be A.I. Certified with TLBAA.
In order to support our breeders in getting their young bulls Parentage Verified, the TLBAA will be reducing the DNA testing fee from $50 to $40. This program is offered to all animals in the TLBAA registry and we encourage our members to test as many of their animals as they wish.

LEGISLATIVE NEWS
COOL repealed in omnibus spending bill
Just days before the World Trade Organization (WTO) is set to approve a billion dollars in retaliatory tariffs against the United States, legislators have released an omnibus spending bill that repeals the country of origin labeling (COOL) requirements that prompted the tariff threats in the first place.
COOL requires meat from other countries sold in the United States to bear a label indicating its country of origin. According to the WTO, COOL violates trade standards and could have led to millions of tariffs on U.S. exporters from Mexico, Canada and possibly other countries.
The WTO, according to POLITICO, was scheduled to approve Mexico and Canada’s tariff plan for the U.S. on Friday.
The 2,009-page bill also includes a provision that ensures the 2015 Dietary Guidelines are based on scientific information and focused on nutritional and dietary information. It would also require a review of the Dietary Guidelines process to ensure a balanced and scientific process in the future. Read more...
