In order to help us encourage one another and stir one another up to love and good works during this unusual time, we are going to be making a prayer chain for anyone interested.
The idea is simple -- if you are interested, you will call one person a day and and pray with them for 5 minutes, and someone else will call you and pray with you for 5 minutes.
We'll have two lists -- one for men and one for women. You'll start by calling the person right below you on the list the first day, then work your way down the list on subsequent days. We're trying to set it up to be as straightforward and doable as possible so that it might really take down barriers for people for something that is not only important but also extremely encouraging - actually praying with one another. We're not going to try and do a bunch of scheduling micromanaging, just allow the person calling to shoot the other person a text and figure out when they’re free for five minutes of prayer and that can be that.
If we actually keep the calls to 5 minutes or less each, 10 minutes a day of praying over the phone is a time commitment that almost anyone can fit in. Even our young people who do not have cell phones themselves can borrow a phone for a few minutes a day to be an encouragement to someone else.
If you would like to sign up to be on the list, please email Candace (the brains behind this idea) at firstname.lastname@example.org.
I know a lot of you are finding good sources of encouragement during these trying times. If you have anything you'd like to share with the church family, please email email@example.com and I'll compile them for everyone to enjoy.
We are still planning on having a congregational meeting on March 30 to vote on the building purchase. We'll have a lot more details about this to you next week.
