This week @ Immanuel:
  • The joint women's Bible study with Lafayette RPC continues Wednesday morning at 10am at the Blackwood home.
  • Wednesday night continues our four-part series on ministry training, 7-8pm at the church building. This week's lesson will be on Disciple-making. There will be nursery for kids under 3 and outdoor activities for kids between 3-11.
  • Youth group meets this Wednesday night, 6:30 at the RPC of Lafayette (1723 S. 9th St.).
  • For your information, the Lamb of God church is using the building on Tuesday evenings for a college Bible study.

This Saturday is the first workday at the new building. See this document for more information from the Building Renovation Committee. Please be sure to sign up so we can be as prepared as possible. Kids under 12 are welcome if they are able to wash walls or haul branches; the committee is asking that every kid be overseen by an adult and there be no more than two kids per adult.

Encouraging Reading

Here is an encouraging word from our friends the Sebalds, serving Jesus in Liberia:

Dear Immanuel Congregation,

I just wanted to send you a quick update and a humble “Thank you”, for your prayers and financial support. It is so important to us to have you behind us. The mission field is extremely rewarding but at times just as stressful.

Bill has returned to Liberia as of yesterday by himself and is immediately starting a peanut butter production business with a family we've known since 2006. They have been faithfully helping us in Monrovia and really need a source of income. Pray that this is successful. They oversee several churches in the bush and Bill has been able to do 2 Farming God's Way workshops with them.

In 5 days he will be leading and hosting a 3 day Farming God's Workshop in Ganta for another mission group from Bong county. Please keep him in your prayers that God's word would touch their hearts and that they would gain wisdom and understanding both spiritually and physically.

I will be heading back to be with him in a month with Josiah but as of right now Sarah and David, our youngest will be staying here in our house with Ruth and Brandon our daughter and her husbands. They are struggling with being separated from the rest of the family. This will be hard on Bill and I and we truly are trusting that God has a plan for us and the people of Liberia.

God bless you for your generous heart. We hope to meet with you soon to talk about a short term mission trip to see us.

Your servants in Christ

Bill and Holly

Prayer Updates

  • Let's be praying often for God to be preparing the hearts of our new neighbors and opening up  opportunities for ministry near the new building.
  • Please pray for Donald Little's mother, Beth, who was diagnosed with lung cancer this past weekend. Pray for God to make Jesus real to her and see her through this trial. There may be opportunities for us to serve her in the near future. (Donald is a former member of IRPC; his mother lives in Brookston.)
