KNOW THE PILOT PROPOSALS
In Greece, Equal Society has selected to pilot podcast shows, one of the good practices that were implemented in the past in prisons in Hungary. In particular, the pilot activity will engage homeless people with the aim to empower them, as well as to develop new and improve existing skills. In this respect, during the first stage of the pilot activity, we will train the participants on how to design and produce podcast shows, while at the second stage the participants will produce podcast shows which will focus on issues of their concern/interest. The podcasts will be available for streaming on various web platforms.
In Hungary we shall pilot our version of the puppetry workshop. We are introducing this unique practice to new target groups. We shall work with people with special needs. One partner of ours works with psychiatric patients. Our other partner specialises in people with intellectual disabilities. The practice introduces a self-made puppet for the participants with which they can create a whole universe. Our experience in dramapedagogy combines with this amazing Polish puppetry technique and this fusion gives a once-in-a-lifetime experience for the participants.
Blind puppets? Teatr Grodzki is getting ready for running puppetry workshops for visually impaired and blind people as part of piloting STEP UP good practices in a new context. It might seem very difficult, if not impossible, to engage blind people in creating paper puppets and then animating them and performing on stage. However, a group of persons from The Polish Association of the Blind approached us and declared their willingness to participate in a creative adventure with our puppets. We are planning to start workshops with them in November in cooperation with the Municipal Public Library in Zdunska Wola (central part of Poland).
In Portugal, the Centro Social de Soutelo has selected to pilot the Puppetry Workshop , the good practice from the Polish partner, Teatr Grodzki.
We will pilot the puppetry workshop with a new target group: the beneficiaries of Social Insertion Income (in Portuguese: RSI), with the purpose of developing new and improving existing skills, in order to empower them. We will follow the Polish methodology, although we will make just a few adjustments given the different target group of people.
We believe that this workshop will benefit everyone, both the beneficiaries and their technical teams, and will bring greater proximity and knowledge between them.
In Spain, Espacio Rojo has selected a ceramic pilot based on the Reshape Ceramics, a social inclusion good practice from Portugal, after an investigation of all good artistic practices. Although this proposal was carried out in prisons, our proposal addresses migrant women with and without intellectual disabilities.
Associated partner organization for the ceramic pilot activity includes the Women's area of the Madrid Plena Inclusion Federation (a network of organizations of people with intellectual disabilities). They are participants of Open Space, a project of Afanias, a member association of Plena Inclusion Madrid (a non-profit organization that works every day to be a benchmark in intellectual disability). Other associated partners are women organizations working with migrants in Madrid.
The choice of the ceramic-based proposal is defined based on the ability of this tool to connect with the expressive and manipulative qualities of the material as well as to create better opportunities for integration, training and employment in society through product design handmade and original. Participation in the activity is voluntary and free and runs from October-2021 to April 2022.
In Turkey, Utopia is getting prepared to implement the good practice of "Paper Puppetry Art" or "Create a Puppet, Create Yourself" workshop which has been successfully carried out by our Polish Partner for many years. CC workshops have been applied to a variety of different target groups and received quite positive feedback from the participants and evaluated as a very effective way to integrate disadvantaged groups into society. As Utopia, we are very excited to improve our competencies in this social puppetry method, support it with our experience in the field of creative drama and share it with disadvantaged young people in Turkey.
