Bionorica to establish sales office in Vienna
Bionorica is a German manufacturer of herbal medicines that uses research and development to provide effective and well-tolerated medicines. The company’s new office in Vienna complements its center for plant research in the Tyrol, which is a partner of the Austrian Drug Screening Institute.
Evercyte and VTU Technology collaborate on the development of recombinant media supplements 
The first conjointly developed recombinant product, Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor 165 (VEGF 165), has been launched, and further targets are in the pipeline. Evercyte’s precise and reproducible in-vitro cell-based assays guarantee the high quality of each production batch.
GMI: Botanic Quest – a smartphone based scavenger hunt for the Botanical Gardens
Recently, the GMI, in collaboration with the Botanical Gardens of the University of Vienna and with financial support from the Vienna Business Agency, released Botanic Quest. This smartphone-based scavenger hunt/quiz allows users to learn about the fascinating world of plants.
Horizon & Ubiquigent enter into collaboration agreement 
Under the terms of the agreement, Horizon’s X-MAN® cell lines have been made available in conjunction with Ubiquigent’s ubiquitin-related drug discovery services. This deal has been negotiated by Horizon’s experts in Vienna.
IMBA: Prevention of genetic breast cancer within reach by using an approved drug
An international team led by researchers at the Austrian Institute of Molecular Biotechnology (IMBA) in Vienna and the University of Maryland School of Medicine in Baltimore discovered that genetically determined breast cancer can be largely prevented by blocking a bone gene. 
MedUni Vienna: Towards the medicine of the future - more precise, more personalized, more efficient 
MedUni Vienna and the Vienna General Hospital have celebrated the concept for the new Center for Precision Medicine. Donate now to enable construction work to start for this center, which will help to bring the full potential of personalized medicine to society.
Nabriva appoints Gary Sender as Chief Financial Officer 
Prior to joining Nabriva Therapeutics AG, Gary Sender served as Senior Vice President, Finance at Shire plc., and as the founding CFO of Tengion. Before, he held several leadership positions within different departments at Merck, including Investor Relations and M&A Finance. 
Radiology Explorer to win S&B Award at Rudolf Sallinger Fonds
The Science and Business (S&B) Award honors the innovative business concept of Radiology Explorer: with the use of advanced machine learning, visual patterns are used to connect medical images to similar cases, to statistics, and to relevant literature. 
The Antibody Lab: Reliable mammalian cell expression system for bioproduction covered in Biopharma Dealmakers 
The Antibody Lab has launched its proprietary BESTcellTM mammalian cell expression system. The new technology allows generating high productivity clones for customers in a very short time: It only takes 3 weeks from transfection to isolated high productivity clones. 
Vetmeduni Vienna: Drug against breast cancer is also highly potent against a frequent form of leukemia
Researchers at the Vetmeduni Vienna and the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) managed to specifically target and kill Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) cancer cells carrying a mutation in the FLT3 tyrosine kinase that accelerates the course of the disease.

Vienna Business Agency ignites technology development
Three million euros for start-ups

The Vienna Business Agency awards two million euros in the context of the “Start Tech Vienna 2016” funding competition, which focuses on projects by Viennese Start-ups with cutting-edge technology that set trends ahead of their time. Apply by September 14 at viennabusinessagency.at!

Another new funding opportunity is the “Vienna Start-up Initiative”. For the first time, newly founded initiatives are sponsored that support Viennese Start-ups. The Vienna Business Agency funds the development and implementation of such innovative services with up to 500,000 euros per project. Apply now at viennabusinessagency.at!
