Dates and location to be announced.
Housing Opportunities for Persons With AIDS (HOPWA) Grantees and Project Sponsors:
The Office of HIV/AIDS Housing (OHH) is planning a 2017 Institute for HOPWA formula grantees, competitive grantees, and project sponsors. This 2.5-day Institute will offer learning tracks for the administrative and service delivery aspects of HOPWA, as well as provide a structured platform for peer-to-peer knowledge sharing. Specific details are pending for the date and location, but we are aware that budgets for 2017 are being formulated at this time. You are encouraged to note the following information for planning purposes:
- Formula Grantees should plan to send two staff members to the HOPWA Institute.
- Competitive Grantees should plan to send two staff members to the HOPWA Institute.
- All grantees will be asked to send a number of project sponsors from their service area. The exact number is still to be determined, but will be based on grant size and training needs.
- As space will be limited, grantees and project sponsors should carefully consider selecting only those participants who have direct responsibility for HOPWA finance, administration, and/or program operations.
While we are still working out the details around specific attendance requirements for project sponsors, as well as the date and location of the Institute, we felt it was important to give our grantees as much advance notice as possible for budgeting consideration.
OHH is very excited that 2017 will bring an opportunity for our staff to meet many of you and provide a platform for training that many of you have been seeking. A “save-the-date” message with more details will be sent within the next few weeks. If you have any questions about this early notice for the 2017 HOPWA Institute, please contact the Office of HIV/AIDS Housing at HOPWA@hud.gov.
