On behalf of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), we would like to thank everyone who provided written public comments on the Third Round of the Promise Zones initiative.
The Third Round public comment period is now closed. During the 60 day public comment period, HUD and USDA asked for input on the following topics:
- Draft Third Round Application Guides
- MAX Survey Platform
- Community Development Marketplace
- Promise Zones Website
- Communications and Stakeholder Engagement
- Data Collection, Research, and Evaluation
- Overarching Questions about the Promise Zones Initiative
All written comments will be considered before finalizing the Third Round Application Guides to ensure that the initiative can support communities more effectively in future years. Once the application is finalized, the FAQ's will be updated to include responses to the public comments.
The third and final round of the Promise Zones competition will open in the Fall of 2015 with announcements anticipated in the Spring of 2016. HUD intends to designate five urban communities and USDA intends to designate one rural and one tribal community.
