Happy Fair Housing Month! Join the Office of Fair Housing and Equal Opportunity (FHEO) on April 29, 2020 for the National Fair Housing Training Day on Sexual Harassment Prevention in Housing. To participate in this national training event, take the web-based, interactive, and self-paced Preventing Sexual and Other Discriminatory Harassment in Housing Training located on the HUD Exchange. Join other fair housing professionals to increase your knowledge of:
- How to recognize sexual and other forms of harassment in housing
- How to prevent harassment
- How to address harassment when it happens
You can also find videos, fact sheets, and other educational tools about sexual harassment and other forms of discriminatory harassment for local education and outreach efforts.
To access the training, go to the Preventing Sexual and Other Discriminatory Harassment in Housing page, and follow the instruction to create a free HUD Exchange account to access the training. Existing HUD Exchange account holders may log in to their accounts to take the training. To maximize access to the training, HUD is making the training available 24/7. It is open to anyone interested in learning more about sexual harassment in housing.
The Joint Sexual Harassment Prevention Task Force between HUD and the Department of Justice identified this training initiative as a primary goal. Since February of 2020, we have received 49 housing discrimination complaints alleging sexual harassment in housing. National conversations about sexual harassment in housing are trending on multiple social media platforms especially due to the housing challenges resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic.
Addressing and preventing sexual harassment and other forms of harassment in housing is everyone's responsibility. Together we can all make a difference. Thank you.
