Field Validation Host-Sites Needed for Innovative Technologies

Dear Multifamily Better Buildings Challenge partner,

The Department of Energy (DOE) is seeking sites for field evaluations of promising buildings technologies that can save energy and improve the health and resilience of buildings. The results from these evaluations are intended to help validate the technical and operational characteristics of the technologies and their potential for future deployment.

Five technologies will be field-tested this year, one of which—Snap-on Window Insulation Panels—we believe is appropriate for multifamily buildings.

Benefits

  • Engage in a low-risk pilot with installation and deployment of cutting-edge technology managed by others
  • Receive independent measurement and verification (M&V) and an evaluation of benefits, conducted by Lawrence Berkley National Laboratory
  • Be included in a well-supported, high-visibility DOE-funded demonstration program
  • Gain insights regarding this technology’s fit for your portfolio

Key Points

  • Third-party performance M&V is funded by DOE and performed by National Lab experts
  • Procurement (purchase agreement) for the technology will be negotiated between the vendor and facility owner
  • Evaluations may last several weeks to a full year, depending on technology
  • DOE publishes and disseminates results as a case study, providing real-world evidence of technology performance
