HUD has announced the following job opportunity in the Office of Environment and Energy (OEE):

Description and Application

OEE provides departmentwide support for HUD’s environment and energy policies, procedures, and standards. OEE represents HUD on interagency work on environment and energy matters – including the Council on Environmental Quality, Environmental Protection Agency, Department of Energy, and Advisory Council on Historic Preservation.

The public position is a “Career Ladder” position at the GS 9 or GS 11 level with rapid promotion potential to GS 13 for a graduate with a master’s degree (or PhD/PhD candidate) or someone with at least one year’s specialized work experience in designing or implementing cross-cutting policies at the previous grade level or its equivalent. For federal employees, the position is advertised at the GS 11 - 13 level.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that the policies and programs of the office, as they relate to energy efficiency and utility cost reduction, are carried out in an efficient manner and that HUD's policies, programs, and initiatives are effectively implemented through interagency partnerships and joint initiatives
  • Formulate policies and programs to ensure that the federal energy efficiency and utility cost strategies are appropriately reflected in the Department's Strategic and Management Plan
  • Develop innovative solutions for financing and public-private partnerships for energy efficient and green building in HUD-assisted properties as well as in privately-operated, market rate housing
  • Evaluate departmental policies and practices and develop recommendations for improvement in creating more high performance, energy efficient, and environmentally sustainable single-family homes
