Upcoming PIT Count Office Hours Registration and Additional HIC and PIT Count Resources

The 2019 Point-in-Time (PIT) Count is fast approaching. To help prepare Continuums of Care (CoCs) for the 2019 PIT count, and address any other questions CoCs have about the PIT count, HUD is hosting its next PIT count office hours on October 30, 2018 from 1:30 to 3:00 PM EDT. HUD will start the call with a discussion of the 2019 Housing Inventory Count (HIC) and PIT count changes and will also discuss issues around PIT count volunteers, including recruitment, training, and waivers.

Note that HUD will not be conducting a separate webinar for the 2019 HIC and PIT Count Notice. HUD anticipates conducting one more office hours session preceding the 2019 PIT count.

Register for the October 30 PIT count office hours.

Additional PIT Count and HIC Resources

  • PIT and HIC Guides, Tools, and Webinars Page: This is a one-stop site where communities can access all of HUD’s guidance on how to plan and implement their PIT counts. The resources include the annual notice, the PIT Count Methodology Guide, survey tool resources, implementation resources, etc.

  • Notice CPD-18-08: 2019 Housing Inventory Count (HIC) and PIT Data Collection Notice for CoC and ESG Programs: The 2019 Notice was published by HUD in October 2018 and provides data collection requirements for the HIC and PIT count.

  • 2019 PIT Count Posters & Social Media Images: HUD recently posted a PIT count poster that communities can use for 2019. CoCs can access on the HUD Exchange PDF files of those posters, along with JPEG files formatted to be used as Facebook cover photos, Facebook event photos, and Twitter cover photos (all available in English and Spanish). Additionally, each CoC will receive a total of six posters (three 11x17” posters and three 18x24” posters) by mail to support their PIT count planning efforts. Those posters will be disseminated in the next few weeks.

  • PIT Count Standards & Methodologies Online Training: Earlier this year, HUD released the PIT Count Standards & Methodologies Online Training as a resource to assist CoCs in training staff on how to plan, implement, and report PIT counts. This training is intended to be an introductory companion tool for the PIT Count Methodology Guide.

  • If you have questions about planning, implementing, or reporting your HIC or PIT count data that are not covered in the Notice or other resources listed above, please submit your questions to the HDX Ask A Question (AAQ) portal on the HUD Exchange website. To submit a question to the HDX AAQ portal, select “HDX: Homelessness Data Exchange” from the “My question is related to” drop down list on Step 2 of the question submission process.
