LSA Common Flags Library Resource Now Available for HMIS Administrators

HMIS Administrators now have access to a new resource aimed at helping communities understand and resolve data quality flags (errors and warnings) in their Longitudinal System Analysis (LSA). The LSA Common Flags Library identifies some of the most common flags that CoCs experience when working through the LSA process.

The Excel document contains flag IDs, plain language descriptions of the flags, possible causes triggering the flags, resources to reference, and guidance on what information Data Liaisons would need from HMIS Administrators to resolve warnings. Please note that not every LSA flag is included in this document and many resource suggestions repeat across several flags. This is because many of these common flags revolve around the same issues such as inventory, overlapping enrollments, differences in LSA data from one year to the next, and comparisons between the LSA and the Housing Inventory Count (HIC) and Point-in-Time (PIT) Count.

As a reminder, any questions you may have regarding specific flags should be directed to your assigned Data Liaison. All community resources and guidance related to the LSA are announced through the HUD Exchange mailing list and are available on the LSA Tools and Guidance homepage.
