Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Statue

“The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically. Intelligence plus character – that is the goal of true education.”
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Our fight for housing equality and justice begins with the enforcement of the Fair Housing Act – signed into law just one week after Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was assassinated in Memphis, Tennessee.
The National Fair Housing Training Academy (NFHTA) is honored to advance Dr. King’s dream with partners like you. Together, through its courses and conversations on emerging fair housing issues, we are building the knowledge, skills, and capacity necessary to empower new generations of fair housing practitioners to combat housing discrimination in all its forms.
To prepare you for success, the Academy has published a calendar of upcoming events for FHIPs and FHAPs that enforce fair housing laws. We encourage you to save these dates on your calendar, so you do not miss out on these important courses. Academy courses cover a variety of topics including: the history of the Fair Housing Act (and its implementing regulations), and best practices in fair housing intake, investigation, and litigation.
Registration for March and April events will open in early February. HUD requests that each organization review the availability of training and that only one person per agency register for each course.
Finally, as we remember Dr. King’s legacy, we invite you to hear from fair housing practitioners like you who share the importance of our collective work in this Fair Housing Opens the Door video.
In Partnership,
Ira McCullough
Manager, National Fair Housing Training Academy
