Emergency Housing Voucher Office Hours - June 22, 2021 - 3:00 PM EDT

HUD's Office of Public and Indian Housing (PIH) is hosting weekly Office Hours to support the implementation of the Emergency Housing Vouchers (EHV) program. These Office Hours will be held on Tuesdays from 3:00 - 4:00 PM EDT.

The next EHV Office Hours will be Tuesday, June 22, 2021, and will highlight elements and expectations of EHV prioritization and referral processes. Guest speakers will introduce ways Public Housing Authorities (PHAs) and communities can prioritize the target populations for their EHVs and will explore the mechanics of referrals and the role of referring entities.

On Tuesday, June 29, EHV Office Hours will look at how EHV Service Fees can support landlord engagement. Guest speakers will highlight current PHA and community practices that provide housing search assistance including housing navigation and landlord incentives.

HUD announced the award of 70,000 EHVs to approximately 700 PHAs across the country in May 2021. A list of PHAs invited to administer these vouchers is available on the EHV page on HUD.gov. These vouchers are a strategic investment of $5 billion funded as part of the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 and are dedicated to individuals and families who are:

  • Homeless
  • At-risk of homelessness
  • Fleeing, or attempting to flee, domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, stalking, or human trafficking
  • Recently homeless and for whom providing rental assistance will prevent the family‚Äôs homelessness or having high risk of housing instability, including clients in rapid rehousing and permanent supportive housing programs
