As part of HUD’s collaboration with communities to end homelessness, the Office of Special Needs Assistance Programs (SNAPS) is pleased to announce the re-launching of the Regional Technical Assistance (TA) Teams. Each Regional Team covers the Continuums of Care (CoCs) in one of HUD’s nine geographic regions. CoCs can see which region they belong to by viewing the map on HUD.gov.
About the TA
Regional Teams will support CoCs through learning opportunities with peer CoCs, Subject Matter Experts, and direct connections to TA support. Regional Teams will support CoCs with challenges they face and help strengthen their overall system of care in HUD priority areas such as:
- Building partnerships with state, county, and local institutions and systems of care including health care organizations, criminal justice systems and correctional institutions, foster care and youth systems, state/regional homeless planning bodies, domestic violence coalitions, trafficking organizations, and tribal areas
- Aligning CoC and Emergency Solutions Grants (ESG) programs
- Using Homeless Management Information System (HMIS) data to inform planning and improve outcomes at the program, community, and regional level
- Incorporating community service providers and institutions into Coordinated Entry
How to Get Help
Each CoC can access a specific TA provider from their Regional Team who serves as their point of contact. This point of contact is intended to be a trusted resource and point of continuity for CoCs. They can answer questions, discuss issues and challenges, and make connections to TA tools and resources. TA providers will be reaching out to CoCs in the fall to set up an introductory phone call. SNAPS encourages CoCs to maintain regular contact with their TA provider and take advantage of this TA support as part of their efforts to end homelessness.
