Welcome to the Vienna Project newsletter!

Reminder: You're Invited

Today we open The Vienna Project! Please join us at 18:00. We start at the Odeon Theater on 23. October, followed by “Parcours der Erinnerns” along the Danube Canal. We will be streaming the opening ceremony live on our website starting at 19:00 Austrian time.

The video projections represent a new generation of talented video artists from the Transmedia Department at the University of Applied Arts. Using new media, the students present a fresh response to the history of National Socialism. The very next day we begin our Sidewalk Sprays of 38 sites. Participate in one or more of these memorable events so together, we can think and talk about how the “moment” and the memory intersect.

Take a peek at this video clip, featuring project leader, Karen Frostig and memory projection artist, Elisabeth Wildling. The video provides you with a glimmer of what is to come.

A calendar, posted on the home page of the Project web site, provides a schedule of sidewalk sprays for the 38 sites.  The Initial sprays will feature prominent historians speaking about the history of the site, creating a thoughtful comparison between Vienna under National Socialism and today's Vienna.
