We Made NPR's Morning Edition!
December started off with a bang when NPR's Morning Edition featured the growing Start School Later Movement and our role in it.  Since the story aired, we received over 2,000 hits on our website, over 250 new signatures on our national petition, 15 email inquiries and 10 more newsletter subscribers.  Click here for the story.

New Partners
We are delighted to welcome two new coalition partners:

Sweet Dreamszzz
is a Michigan-based non-profit 501(c)3 organization committed to improving children’s health, well-being, and academic performance by providing sleep education and bedtime essentials to economically disadvantaged students and their families.

Cape Cod Justice for Youth Collaborative is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to helping facilitate and coordinate a compassionate, community-involved system of justice for youth and families that is accessible to all without regard to economic, cultural, linguistic, social, ability, or other factors.
New Chapter
We are thrilled to announce the formation of another new chapter, bringing us to 15 total chapters across the USA:
Start School Later Rockland County, NY.

Jeffrey Rose, Director of Manhattan's Advanced Hypnosis Center, founded this chapter after conducting an informal poll of fellow parents at his daughter's school.  The poll revealed the nightmare that staggered school start times and widespread sleep deprivation posed for families.
Through his extensive clinical experience, Jeffrey knows that efforts to break bad habits and improve mental and physical well being are seriously impeded when a person is sleep deprived. - See more at:

For more information about what the Rockland County chapter is doing, visit their webpage and Facebook group.

You can find links to our other local  chapters on the Start School Later website. If you don't see a chapter in your area, please consider forming one!  Local Chapters are:
  • Easy to start
  • Effective for generating local interest
  • Helps boost local efforts
  • Powerful for media attention
