Invitation from Your President

Bill Migneron

December 1, 2016
Dear Fellows:
As we come to the close of another successful year for the College, I want to briefly share with you the new initiatives the College is about to embark upon. But, we’ll need your continued support and your involvement to succeed. When you renewed for 2016, you were given the opportunity to contribute as a Sustaining Fellow and 25 Fellows made contributions at that time. These additional funds, above and beyond the fellowship dues, assist us in delivering the level of programs and services Fellows are looking for from the College. If you did not contribute at that time, we encourage you to make a 2016 tax deductible contribution before year-end. You can also make a 2017 contribution when your dues invoice arrives in January. Thank you for your additional support!
At this year’s Futures Conference, I announced a new initiative to expand our commitment to Access to Justice (A2J) issues as well as other initiatives to allow you the opportunity to become more involved with your College. Everyone’s time is at a premium, but we find time for those things that are important to each of us. Here are some things you can do to make your participation in the College more meaningful:
Give back through A2J activities:
  • Volunteer for a Legal Services Corporation (LSC) visit via our partnership with LSC.
  • Access to justice – behind the scenes. Whether or not you have a law degree, there are many opportunities to share your talents with local legal-service organizations.
  • Contact your local legal services organization even if not funded by LSC and volunteer.
Take time to nominate new Fellows! One of the best things about belonging to the College is meeting people who have made extraordinary contributions to law practice management and making sure they are Fellows in the College. We all benefit from the College’s diversity in all its forms, so the nomination of diverse candidates is especially encouraged.
Connect with your colleagues via social media – and send ideas to our Social Media Committee!
Volunteer opportunities abound!
  • Volunteer to help at the Futures Conference
  • Write a piece for a College newsletter
  • Help spread the word about our InnovAction Awards program
Ask Fellows in your area to gather for a brown bag lunch – find out who is located nearby and invite them to lunch, to dinner, or for a drink.
And reach out to new inductees to make them feel welcome.
A contribution as a Sustaining Fellow is a great way to honor a friend or colleague who made a difference in your life and career. Please consider making a year-end contribution to the College if you have not already done so in 2016. And mark your calendars now for our Futures Conference in Atlanta next September. The program promises to be a memorable one!

Happy holidays to each of you.
