Updates from the Ocean Procurement Team
The USA Procurement Team is currently:
  • Working with key EMO offices in Asia to stay in close contact with local carrier reps. We began this targeted effort several weeks ago and have already seen some success by obtaining additional bookings.
  • In constant contact with carrier reps in the USA to stay abreast of any potential extra space in the market. With this strategy, we have been notified of a few extra loaders that were not generally announced to the market.
  • Working with traditional LCL carriers to obtain any FAK space available. We have had some good success with ECU Line out of Vietnam in securing space for this trade.
  • Adding more premium contract options. Last week, we added this option with Hyundai Lines.

While these options have not been a “cure all” for the issues we are facing, they have allowed us to gain an extra container here and there. In this market, each container that finds space is a win.
