Effective January 1, 2017, our ocean carriers have notified us of the following General Rate Increases (GRIs) for the Far East (including India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan and Bangladesh), S. Africa, E. Africa & Middle East, and Bunker Adjustment Factors (BAF) for Far East/Indian Subcontinent to the U.S. and Puerto Rico.
BAF (includes Low Sulfur Surcharges) To U.S. West Coast
USD 282/20' container
USD 313/40' container
USD 352/40' high-cube container
USD 396/45' high-cube container
To inland points via U.S. West Coast
USD 429/20' container
USD 477/40' container
USD 537/40' high-cube container
USD 604/45' high-cube container
To U.S. East Coast USD 494/20' container
USD 549/40' container
USD 618/40' high-cube container
USD 695/45' high-cube container
Given that the GRIs are slated for the future, it's not yet clear how the market will respond and if they will actually be implemented. It's not uncommon to see carriers soften up only hours before implementation. With this in mind, we might not see reductions until close to the effective date.
