Dear Friends and Supporters,
I am proud to say that we have just passed our two-year mark this Spring at the Music Moves Mountains Foundation thanks to all you movers and shakers! We have updated our Board of Directors and are working hard to accomplish our goal to make music therapy and education available to those in need. The Foundation is getting closer to qualifying for grants, but still needs the support of the community to achieve its mission. We have some special fundraising opportunities coming up this Summer you can join us in!
On June 14th, MMMF will present a benefit concert in Oklahoma City at the Blue Door in support of the documentary Alive Inside
as well as for local music programs to help those suffering from Alzheimer's and memory issues. The film, which will have its Oklahoma debut at the deadCenter Film Fest on June 14th/15th, documents the work of social worker (and President of Music & Memory) Dan Cohen as he offers personalized iPods to patients in memory care facilities to awaken the human spirit and allow an avenue to lost memory. The benefit concert will feature music by the Storyville Scoundrels and will offer complimentary brews by Mustang Brewing Company. More information: https://www.facebook.com/events/537968452975693/
Later this Summer, MMMF will be co-hosting a benefit concert with Strummerville (Joe Strummer Foundation for New Music) http://www.strummerville.com/
in Austin to raise funds for a special needs music scholarship. We will announce the full line-up soon, but until then, mark your calendars for Friday, August 22nd to join us at the Continental Club for a brilliant tribute to the late humanitarian and leader of The Clash, all for a great cause.
If you cannot join us for either of these fundraising events, you can still make a donation here and make a difference. And join MMMF on Facebook or Twitter to keep up with our weekly news and great stories about the healing power of music. Spread the word, get involved and help us move some more mountains!
Much love and gratitude,
Julie Frost, Founder & Director
