 Scout Sales Tips
Map out your selling area and knock on every door on the street.
  • Please respect “NO SOLICITING” signs
  • Write down the addresses that don’t answer so you can re-visit them later, or leave a Sorry I Missed You  card in their door
  • Give every customer a donation receipt so that they know when to expect delivery of their order and who to contact if they want to order additional popcorn.
  • Don’t sell alone…bring a buddy or parent (less people say no when parents are present)
  • Best-selling times are between 6:30 – 8:30 PM
  • Military Donations should be paid for at the time of selling as there is nothing to deliver
TIP OF THE WEEK:  Practice your sales pitch and be familiar with the products you are selling.

New Exploring Program Opportunities

Do you have an interest in STEM?  That's short for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.  If so, you will want to check out a new program being offered by the Westmoreland Fayette Council in conjunction with the Westmoreland County Community College.

You may be surprised to learn that the Scouts have been offering an annual program in Engineering and Technology for almost 20 years now!  Officially known as Explorer Post 2000, it ran as a one-week event.  This year we are rebooting the program with a new partner and expanding it to a year-round program focused on your interests!

An introductory session will be held at Westmoreland County Community College, Main Campus in Youngwood on Tuesday, September 25 from 7:00 - 8:00 p.m. The meeting will be in room 3101 Science Hall.  This is a continuing program which meets monthly and will require that you fill out an application and pay an annual participation fee of $34.  The Engineering and Technology Academy is open to young women and men ages 14-20.

Please call 724-837-1630 to reserve your spot at the meeting.  Should you have any questions, please contact Jesse Bush at  More information HERE

Are you interested in a Health Care Career?
Excela Health and the Westmoreland Fayette Council are pleased to present the Explorer program at Excela Hospitals.  Exploring is a high school aged, coed program which will give all students the opportunity to learn more about careers in the health care field such as Radiology, Therapy, Nursing and Pathology.

On Wednesday, October 3 from 6:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. we would like to invite you to join us at Excela Square Latrobe to begin to look at the many health careers that are available in our community.  This is a continuing program that meets monthly and would require you and a parent to fill out an application and pay an annual participation fee of $34.

For us to properly prepare, we would ask that you call the Excela Health Call Center by Monday, October 1 at 877-771-1234 to reserve your spot.
