Saw a post recently about the month of May being aptly named: it MAY rain, it MAY snow or it MAY do anything in between… Well, in less than two weeks all planting schedules will begin, regardless of the weather. We learned last year anything is possible.
We are still looking for lots of volunteers. We have a two-week schedule of events to give you choices of opportunities to help in Portage and Kalamazoo. No experience is necessary. If you have them, bring your gloves, your hand trowel, and be ready to have a couple hours of fun with the community enriching our own places.
Flowers this year are mostly back to basics with a variety of color: Begonias, Rudbeckias, Sunpatiens, Cuphea, and Cleome, with some Red Velvet Curtains Amaranthus to be the tall beauty in the back.
Looking forward to seeing all my friends again and meeting new ones! Be sure to join us for our Open Houses where we will be in Bronson Park, then the next day in Portage on Library Lane. I will try to keep things entertaining…
So ready all your equipment, boots, and hats, and prepare to bring back the annual beauties that are only possible because of ALL OF YOU!
The next several weeks are full. Here are just some of the activities:
- 5/13 & 5/14: FILL both peacocks with soil
- 5/16 & 5/17: PLANT peacocks
- 5/18, 5/19 & 5/20: PORTAGE planting days
- 5/21: PLANT Portage Creek Bicentennial Park trailhead bed
- 5/23 AM: PLANT Arcadia Creek Festival Place
- 5/23 PM: PLANT Transportation Center pots
- 5/24: INSTALL topiaries & plant small beds, Kalamazoo
- 5/25, 5/26 & 5/27: KALAMAZOO planting days
Check out all that's available on the buttons below. It helps for us to know how many to expect. We are also still looking for people/families/groups to be bed adopters for the summer.
