Remember discussions about Bronson Park renovations surrounding the fountain a few years back? They were delayed, but are beginning this Fall. Their goal is to lay some concrete foundations in several areas before cold weather sets in. In addition, there will be an electrical and sprinkler upgrade, which will involve digging underground in almost the entire Park. They are starting on the East end. This means that on August 28 and 29 we will have to pull 8 beds and topiaries from:
- SE corner (across from Library) where the Junior Peacock is currently sitting
- 2 interior beds
- Mike the Peacock, and the 2 beds adjacent to him
- SW corner (across from KIA) under the weeping tree
The flowers in the beds are fairly easy to remove. The BIG project will be emptying both Peacocks. We will have a bucket truck take the heads off and set on the ground so all 4 pieces can be started. After the flowers are pulled, we will cut off all the zip ties (hundreds) at the intersections, then cut the landscape fabric with sharp scissors/garden snippers, then loosen and remove all the soil we crammed into the frames. Click here to volunteer.
It is so hard for me to pull the beauty each year, but with good friends and some laughs, we can get through. Master Gardeners – great few volunteer hours here!
I'm sorry we can’t schedule on a weekend, but we need trucks and equipment help which is only available weekdays.
At the end of September, we'll pull the remaining beds and empty the large containers. I'll send people home with lots of beautiful stuff! See you soon!
