June 16, 2022 Newsletter Edition
All that we gave of ourselves during the last four weeks of planting and other activities, included overcoming surprise hurdles and lots of follow-up with volunteers. Sure, those weeks are exhausting but we run on adrenaline that is fueled by gratitude for the volunteers working by our side and others surrounding us with encouragement and support. The end result of beautiful flower beds topped with mulch, statuesque topiaries scattered throughout the planted areas, and full, colorful flower trees and pots is why we love our work with Kalamazoo in Bloom.

As you know, the end result you enjoy is because of community volunteers. We had great individuals and groups joining us this year. A few very special mentions go to Stryker who did an amazing job signing up employees to volunteer on each of our six major planting days. We were honored that Kalamazoo Orthodontics chose our organization to fulfill their day of service. We were thrilled to welcome back Loy Norrix High School students on our final planting day! And last, but never least, MSU Extension Master Gardener volunteers have the longest history working with us. We are so grateful for their friendship, expertise, and commitment to KIB.

What's next is to put out all of the flower bed signs and topiary tags. We are all so anxious for that to happen! After everything is planted, however, it takes a couple of weeks of more preparation, welcoming new volunteer bed adopters and additional sponsors before the signs can be made. We're nearly there!  A few weeks more of your patience as we wait for the signs to be ready for pickup. It will all be worth the wait!
The warmest gratitude and appreciation for all of you,
Monika & CJ
