The display of summer flowers is coming to an end and we're putting the call out for volunteers to help us pull the flowers in downtown Kalamazoo and Portage. We're spreading the work over a week, beginning September 28 in Kalamazoo. Each day starts at 9 am. Come when you can and stay however long you're available. A reward for helping us pull is the opportunity to take as many plants home as you'd like, including the specialty plants in Bronson Park's containers.
  • Monday, September 28: Pull all of the flower beds in Bronson Park, at City Hall, and at the Courthouse; and start to empty the containers
  • Tuesday, September 29: Continue to empty the containers
  • Wednesday, September 30:  Empty any remaining containers and take down the flower tree pots in Bronson Park
  • Friday, October 2: Pull all of the flowerbeds in Portage's City Center
Much of this work, especially in Bronson Park and at City Hall, is falling on Kalamazoo in Bloom to do alone. We can't stress enough how much volunteers are even more critical than ever before. Please join us if you can.

Thanks to the generosity of many people - near and far - we raised just over $3,600! These funds will help with the creation of a GPS self-guided tree walk in Crane Park. We, along with the Crane Park beautification volunteers, and the City of Kalamazoo, look forward to announcing the completion of this project so you can enjoy this outdoor activity. Special thanks to Natalie Patchell and the Crane Park beautification volunteers for their commitment to maintaining the landscape and beauty of one of Kalamazoo's gems.
It should be no surprise that we will not be able to hold the Pumpkin Soiree this November. Your support of the event and to Kalamazoo in Bloom is still just as important. Stay tuned for more information on what we plan to do in place of an in-person event. Please consider supporting us this fall. Thank you.
