The Crane Park Beautification Volunteers, under the direction of Natalie Patchell, has been working with the City of Kalamazoo to create a Tree Walk in Crane Park. Approximately 30 trees have been identified and mapped in the park. Now the fundraising begins.
We've been challenged by an anonymous donor to raise funds for this unique project. Thedonor will match dollar for dollar (up to $1,000) to help:
create a final map of trees that will be placed on Crane Park's website for public access,
have signage made to identify tree species, and
create a GPS-enabled map for self-guided tree walks.
The estimated project cost is over $2,000. With your support during the month of August, we can meet this match!
Donations for the tree walk can be made to Kalamazoo in Bloom. Please note that your donation is in honor of Crane Park Trees. Gifts can be made securely online here or you can mail a check made payable to Kalamazoo in Bloom, PO Box 20178, Kalamazoo, MI 49019-1178.
The Tree Walk will be a wonderful learning tool for children at Parkwood-Upjohn Elementary School, in particular, as well as the many visitors to Crane Park. Thank you!
