AWARDS SEASON 

This is the time of the year when we recognize and honor those who do so much for our Association. By serving our Association, these members are also serving each of us, our customers and clients, homeowners and future homeowners and our community. 

The awards we honor our fellow REALTORS® with are really just a small token compared to the debt of gratitude we owe these members for their service to our profession. Homeownership itself, and our profession, would look much different if REALTOR volunteers did not serve tirelessly in so many areas. From my seat as WSRAR President, I am amazed at the time and energy so many volunteers put in on our behalf. 

My favorite quote has long been the President Teddy Roosevelt quote, "The Man in the Arena." Most notably Roosevelt said, "It is not the critic who counts...the credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena." 
WSRAR is blessed with many men and women serving in the REALTOR® Arena and in the arena for our communities. I encourage you to come out to the WSRAR Awards Dinner on Tuesday, November 14th at 5:45 p.m. at Forsyth Country Club to help thank and congratulate our award winning "REALTORS® in the Arena."

LEAP
A Challenge to Uncover Greatness

Last month, I set out to share what I believe is a common focus each of us should have.  The underlying motivations that not only bind us together as a collective and cohesive group, but also those common hopes and aspirations we envision that will ultimately lead us to greatness.  As your Association, WSRAR must continue to pursue the very best in what it provides to each member, and from time to time, postulate reasoned pathways that challenge all members to explore strategic opportunities which lead to excellence, as well. 
 
One such path is exemplified in a simple yet comprehensive invitation to all WSRAR members to commit to proactively lead, engage, affirm, and promote.  Let’s examine for a minute each of these key components that call out along the pathway to excellence:
 
Lead by example.  We all know the best way to demonstrate the behaviors you want to see in others is to lead by example. Mentor and encourage others to lead within your organizations and at your Association.  Not all leaders are born.  Many are simply asked to lead.  So, I am asking and encouraging [no, challenging] each of you to ask yourself and others with whom you have influence, to consider taking on new and additional roles of leadership.
 
Engage with purpose. Your association can be viewed as an extension of your business and a valued resource for you and your Brokers and staff. Your participation and involvement serves as confirmation of this fact and encourages further involvement of your office and teams.
 
Affirmation through acknowledgement and action.  Acknowledge the work your Association and volunteer leadership does on your behalf.  Take action by attending events and encouraging your Brokers to also participate as well as volunteer.  In doing so, you are making a contribution which creates  an atmosphere of service that enhances and affirms the hard work and dedication that must be pervasive in the industry to ensure success.
 
Promote with enthusiasm. We have the best Association and membership in the region and perhaps in the state and nationally.  Our volunteerism and community involvement is off the charts—as we are recognized throughout the Triad and on the state and national levels for the many contributions we make.  WSRAR provides top-notched programming, services, technologies, and benefits—all at the lowest possible costs to members.  Tell your Brokers.  Tell your colleagues.  Tell your clients of all the many exciting things being accomplished and achieved by WSRAR REALTORS®.
 
Again, when we are intentional in our efforts to lead, engage, affirm, and promote the many amazing aspects of the real estate industry, we can realize our full potential as a whole.

LEADERSHIP ACADEMY

The Central Carolina Regional Leadership Academy helps emerging REALTORS® gain real estate industry and regional knowledge that would prepare and equip them to fill volunteer leadership positions in their local Association,  NC REALTORS®  and in their community as well, thereby enhancing the REALTOR® Brand.
 
This is a seven-session program that encompasses a year.  There is a nomination process and Association Presidents are encouraged to nominate up to two (2) of their members annually for this program.  The curriculum includes:
  • Team Building
  • Effective Communication Skills and Public Speaking
  • Challenges of Leadership – The Difference Between Leading + Managing
  • Getting Things Accomplished through Other Volunteers
  • Age, Ethnic and Gender Diversity + Different Personality Types

  • Making REALTOR® Associations Outstanding Advocates
  • Leadership Program Advisory Board Challenge

Contributions are not deductible for income tax purposes. Contributions to RPAC are voluntary and are used for political purposes. You may contribute more or less than the suggested amount. You may refuse to contribute without reprisal and the National Association of REALTORS® or any of its state associations or local boards will not favor or disfavor any member because of the amount contributed. 70% of each contribution is used by your state PAC to support state and local political candidates. Until your state PAC reaches its RPAC goal 30% is sent to National RPAC to support federal candidates and is charged against your limits under 2 U.S.C. 441a; after the state PAC reaches its RPAC goal it may elect to retain your entire contribution for use in supporting state and local candidates.
