If you get a new Apple watch for Christmas, wonderful! But please don’t wear it when using your SUPRA eKEY. It can cause issues with the Bluetooth connectivity and prevent your eKEY from working correctly.
NAR CALL FOR ACTION
Federal Issues of Interest
TAX REFORM: Conference Committee has begun to address the differences between the House and Senate bills. A vote on the bill is expected early next week. Important improvements in the legislation are possible by encouraging Congress to maintain the current law for the mortgage interest deduction and capital gains exclusion. Retaining current law makes the bill more favorable to homeownership. Be sure to complete the
Call for Action to influence Congress on tax reform!

NET NEUTRALITY: On Thursday, December 14, in a 3-2 vote, the FCC voted to repeal net neutrality regulations. The purpose of net neutrality regulations was to prevent internet service providers from controlling connection speed or prioritizing some websites over others. NAR has been a strong supporter of maintaining net neutrality in order to protect real estate professionals’ use of the Internet to market listings and services. NAR will continue to work with Congress groups and the telecommunications industry to create a legislative remedy that protects consumers and businesses.

FLOOD INSURANCE: On December 8, 2017, the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) was extended as part of a continuing resolution to keep the government open for two weeks until Dec. 22nd. NAR will continue working with Congress to ensure that the NFIP does not lapse while the Senate works on its version of the 5-year reauthorization and reform measure. Read NAR's letters to both the
House and Senate urging an extension.

Local Issues of Interest
UDO-283 (text amendment allowing multi-family residential in HB and GO without re-zoning process): After a public hearing on Thursday, December 14, the Planning Board voted to pass UDO-283 to the City Council without Planning Board recommendation. The Board discussed neighborhood concerns about the repercussions of development in HB and GO zones and heard support for UDO-283 from several WSRAR members.
