Existing Home Sales Surge
Existing home sales in the greater Winston-Salem area continue to improve.  Existing home sales soared to 686 in May, compared to 582 in April (an 18% increase) and 523 in May of 2012, a 31% increase.  The average price of those existing homes also increased.  The average price in May of 2013 was $159,276, compared to $151,218 in April of 2013 and $153,600 in May of 2012.

New Short Sale Contingent Status!

Effective Thursday, June 27th, a new status, "Short Sale Contingent", will be available in our MLS systems.

This new status will function as follows:

  • Short Sale Contingent will be in Residential, Vacant Land, and Multi-Family Property Types.
  • The status will be treated as an “Active-type” listing.
    • In other words, for IDX purposes, this would be an Active Type listing just like PendingAB, DDP.
  • When changing a listing to the status of Short Sale Contingent, no entry will be required in any fields under the “Comparable Information” section.  (Selling Office, Selling Agent, Contract Date, etc.)
  • A listing can go from “Active” to “Short Sale Contingent” AND from “Short Sale Contingent” to “Active, Pending, PendingAB, Withdrawn or Temporarily Off-Market”.
  • In order to move a listing to ‘Closed’ from this status, you would first need to change to Pending or PendingAB.
  • If the listing is in “Short Sale Contingent” status and it reaches the Listing Expiration date, it will stay in “Short Sale Contingent” status just as it does when it’s in a “Pending” status.
    • When the listing is edited for any reason after the expiration date is reached, it would also follow the same rules as a “Pending” listing in the same situation.

Contributions are not deductible for income tax purposes. Contributions to RPAC are voluntary and are used for political purposes. You may contribute more or less than the suggested amount. You may refuse to contribute without reprisal and the National Association of REALTORS® or any of its state associations or local boards will not favor or disfavor any member because of the amount contributed. 70% of each contribution is used by your state PAC to support state and local political candidates. Until your state PAC reaches its RPAC goal 30% is sent to National RPAC to support federal candidates and is charged against your limits under 2 U.S.C. 441a; after the state PAC reaches its RPAC goal it may elect to retain your entire contribution for use in supporting state and local candidates.
