Note from Mr. Kenney
Another SHS Prom has come and gone and I am thrilled to report that a great time was had by all!  I am fond of saying "the best part about prom is having it safely behind us" with a smile on my face, but in all sincerity, I am deeply appreciative of the excellent behavior of our students and the choices that they make.  Despite being a long night for adults, we are all pleased to be part of the wonderful experience that is SHS Prom.
I would like to extend my thanks to the SHS chaperone crew of Joe Patek, Levar Ridgeway, Patrick Sullivan, Megan Welch (Rec. Dept.), Emily Barr, Nancy Knight and Tamiko McVicker.  I would like to give a special THANK YOU to Marie Schneider for her excellent organization and delivery of all of the behind the scenes work that makes the night possible.
To the amazing crew of Post Prom Parent Chaperones lead by the amazing Sarah Rock, you have my deepest appreciation and thanks.  Here is a list of everyone who helped:

Now we turn our attention to the final full month of school and eagerly anticipate graduation on Thursday, June 11.
Have a great week!
Tim Kenney, SHS Principal
Note from the Editor
I just read the note that Tim submitted, and again I am amazed at the community of volunteers we have!  Our willingness to look out for and to help each other and each other’s children is at the top of the list of the many, many reasons I am so happy to live here.  If you see some of the people listed in Tim’s note, please be sure to let them know that you appreciate their late night efforts during prom.  That particular gig is not for everyone, but we never worry about not having enough people say “yes”.
This is still “volunteer season” – as we still need some of you to help out with Staff Appreciation Week – in particular we need a few more bakers and a couple of early morning risers to help with set up for breakfast.  Click here if you’re interested..  And Junior Parents, you did a GREAT job with prom – and you’ll soon be hearing about how you can help the senior parents enjoy their graduation festivities.  Look for that next week - we know you’ll step up one more time, and then next year, you’ll reap the benefits of your “pay it forward” initiative.

SHS News & Announcements

Grad Grams Are Here!  Orders Due May 18
The end of the school year is fast approaching. Soon our SHS Class of 2015 will be receiving their diplomas and heading out into the world for new adventures! A GRAD GRAM is a great way to send all your favorite graduates a personalized note of congratulations. Send a message to one, a few, or the entire graduating class.
Each GRAD GRAM personalized message is printed on an individual page, then all messages for
each graduate are assembled into a personalized booklet for the graduate and hand delivered at the Senior Dinner Dance on Saturday, May 30th.  Unfortunately, we are having trouble with the online ordering system – if we are able to work out the bugs, we’ll let you know, but in the meantime, order your order your Grad Grams the old-fashioned way, like everyone did waaaaay back in 2010!  ;)
Print an order form, fill it out, and mail or drop it off, along with your check to Laura Windau at 4471 N. Morris Blvd, Shorewood, WI 5321.   Make sure you don’t miss anyone – click here for a list of graduating students
Spring Fever
As it continues to get warmer outside so, too, does the urge for some students to skip classes. Please remind your son/daughter that attendance at school is still required. If a legitimate reason (illness, medical appointment, etc.) does arise please contact the attendance office: 414-961-6922. Keep in mind that any unexcused or unverified absence disqualifies a student from receiving exam exemptions!  ~ Joe Patek, SHS Assistant Principal
“Senior Skip Day”
Parents, please be aware that SHS does not condone or sponsor a “senior skip day.”  Any unexcused or unverified absences, including any “Senior Skip Day”, will result in the student being ineligible for a semester exam exemption.  Please understand that SHS attendance policies will continue to exist and be enforced. In other words, “Don’t do the crime if you can’t do the time.”   ~ Joe Patek, SHS Assistant Principal
Advanced Placement Test Scores

Don’t miss the SHS Drama production of Cabaret on Friday, May 8 at 7 p.m. and Saturday, May 9 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Set in 1931 Berlin as the Nazis are rising to power, Cabaret is based in nightlife at the seedy Kit Kat Klub, and revolves around the English cabaret performer Sally Bowles and her relationship with the young American writer Cliff Bradshaw. A sub-plot involves the doomed romance between German boarding house owner Fräulein Schneider and her elderly suitor Herr Schultz, a Jewish fruit vendor. Overseeing the action is the Master of Ceremonies at the Kit Kat Klub. The club serves as a metaphor for ominous political developments in late Weimar Germany. Memorable songs include: “Willkommen,” “Don’t Tell Mama,” “Two Ladies,” “Money,” and “Tomorrow Belongs to Me.” The show includes some serious subject matter, but no profanity. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for students/children.  Use this order form  to reserve your tickets and get the best seats!.
