EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, ANNE RODDA,

encourages potential applicants

Last month we introduced judge James Enhes - this month it's a British superstar Anthony Marwood, who also appears in 2019 with our colleagues The Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra and Adam Chamber Music Festival.

Our judges embody the glorious traditions of violin playing from all over the world. Mindful of the possibilities available and multi-faceted skills required for a successful career as a violinist in the 21st century, these judges represent various pathways, and amongst them typify soloists, chamber musicians, recording artists, pedagogues, orchestra leaders and conductors of the highest standards.

Not just one major winner, but two!

Russian Andrey Gugnin (winner of the 2016 Sydney International Piano Competition) joins our own 2017 winner, Romanian Ioana Cristina Goicea, for a mega performance tour of New Zealand and Australia. These two dynamic artists met for the first time on Wednesday and have quickly forged an exquisite musical partnership that they, and all their audiences, will enjoy.

Concert details and ticket information available here.

And you can follow Ioana and Andrey's adventures on our blog, Keep Up With the Play, or our Instagram @violincompetition.

Richard Lin wins gold at the recent International Violin Competition of Indianapolis.

We always love seeing Michael Hill violinists achievements and were over the moon when Richard (2nd prize winner 2011) won first prize last week at our colleague's fine event. Other major prizewinners were 3rd prize to Luke Hsu (2017's 2nd prizewinner) and 5th prize to our Ioana Cristina Goicea.
Congrats everyone!
