Welcome to my every-other-week newsletter, with three fresh reviews! If you’re still debating a Disney Plus subscription, I’ve got some thoughts on that, plus a streaming service you maybe don’t know about.

Know someone who's overwhelmed by all the TV choices? Please forward this newsletter to them so they can stay in the know. All right, let’s dive in!

Disney Plus — you want it

Disney Plus, the newest streaming service, launched earlier this month. Should you get it? I think it’s only a matter of time before you do, because along with Netflix, Disney+ is poised to change entertainment as we know it, as I explain in this piece for Primetimer.

After I wrote that, I watched the first two episodes of Disney+’s Star Wars spinoff The Mandalorian. And it proved my point — who needs movie theaters when you can drop something this good into 50 million homes?

Sundance Now is a thing

Disney+ brings the total number of streaming services to, no kidding, 271. Here’s one that stands out — Sundance Now. For $7/month you get a smartly curated library of film and foreign TV acquisitions like the new British thriller Cheat. Here’s my review.

Dolly Parton’s Heartstrings is good but …

It could use more Dolly! Watch the first episode of her new Netflix series and see if you don’t agree. My review.
