Note: New Announcements are printed in blue.
We're Trying Something New!
Our weekly e-nUUs has been getting longer and longer,
and the same announcements sometimes appear over and over again.
This has been, in part, due to the lack of a regular Chalice Flame newsletter. But -- have no fear! We're undergoing a "facelift."
Beginning this week, the weekly e-nUUs will only feature
"brand new" announcements and/or events happening in the next week!
Afraid you might miss something important? A link
to the previous few weeks' e-nUUs and a list of headlines
will be included for your convenience.
We continue to explore different ways to most effectively deliver the news of what's happening here at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Kent.
Please give this new e-nUUs format a try, and then let us know
if we're on the right track....we welcome your feedback.
Services are offered on Sunday mornings at 9:45 and 11:30 AM. Nursery care is available during both services.
November 6, 2016 Stories of Spiritual Discovery
Led by Rev. Melissa Carvill Ziemer
What kinds of circumstances lead to opportunities for spiritual discovery. This morning, as we introduce our monthly theme of story, I have invited three members of the congregation to share one of their own stories of spiritual discovery. Come join us as we listen together for what the stories of others can teach us about our own.
It's time for the 4th annual UU've Got Talent concert!
Come check out all the musical talent of the members of the Unitarian-Universalist Church of Kent. $15 donation at the door. $5 for under 21. This concert is a fundraiser to benefit the lively music program at our church - specifically toward the funding of a choir accompanist. Please spread the word and bring a friend!
The Coming of Age program will not be offered this fall due to insufficient enrollment. We will explore the possibility of offering the course in the near future and, if so, to extending an invitation to youth from nearby UU congregations. Thanks to all the youth and mentors who expressed interest in participating in the program.

The Patricia Pownall UU Book Group will be meeting on Thursday, November 10 at 7 pm in Founder’s Lounge at church. Please bring a small snack to share and your own drink. This month we are reading Ordinary Grace by William Kent Krueger. Frank begins the season preoccupied with the concerns of any teenage boy, but when tragedy unexpectedly strikes his family—which includes his Methodist minister father; his passionate, artistic mother; Juilliard-bound older sister; and wise-beyond-his-years kid brother—he finds himself thrust into an adult world full of secrets, lies, adultery, and betrayal, suddenly called upon to demonstrate a maturity and gumption beyond his years. Told from Frank’s perspective forty years after that fateful summer, Ordinary Grace is a brilliantly moving account of a boy standing at the door of his young manhood, trying to understand a world that seems to be falling apart around him. It is an unforgettable novel about discovering the terrible price of wisdom and the enduring grace of God. If you have any questions you may contact Bonnie Harper at email@example.com. All are welcome.
