HIGHLIGHTS

FYiP 2016 (24 - 29 May)

ITI invited our arts community friends up the hill in May to watch the final-year students in their FYiP (final-year individual presentation). Over six nights, they performed their self-conceived works. The FYiP is a key component of the training at ITI that shapes them to be original, theatre-makers. 

Outreach talk for SOTA IB career-progression students (14 Apr) 
In a series of three workshops in Current ITI students (and SOTA alumnae) Elizabeth Sergeant-Tan and Isabelle Low joined ITI's Head of Acting, Beto Ruiz, in an evening to share with SOTA's Year 5s and 6s in the Theatre IB Career Progression track on what learning at ITI is like.

Workshop Series (5 Jun, 2 Jul & 16 Jul)
In a series of three workshops in June and July, ITI's faculty members Jane Gilmer, Lim Chin Huat and Beto Ruiz, led over 50 participants from the public in sessions on acting and movement. Enriching, fun and insightful says a workshop participant.

Board Member Tan Tarn How at The Happiness Seminar (1 Jun)
Playwright and ITI Board Member Tan Tarn How joined the Happiness Seminar hosted by the Royal Danish Embassy and the Lien Centre for Social Innovation where he spoke on "Human Flourishing in Singapore".
 

Alumnus Sankar Venkateswaran at Asian Dramaturgs Network 2016 Symposium (23 Apr)
Class of 2006 alumnus (and artistic director of the International Theatre Festival of Kerala), Sankar, was invited to Singapore for Centre 42 inaugural Asian Dramaturgs Network symposium, where he shared on the practical realities of dramaturgy in his homeland of India.

ITI at SDEA’s Theatre Open House: What’s Out There For Mi? (16 Jul)
Together with other youth theatre ensembles and collectives, ITI joined Singapore Drama Educators Association "Theatre Open House" to introduce our unique curriculum based on a matrix of traditional and contemporary forms to tomorrow's theatre-makers.

Pro makeup tips from M.A.C. Cosmetics (4 Jul)
Long-time supporter of the arts M.A.C Cosmetics Singapore imparted some makeup skills for the stage to our final-year students in a dedicated morning session.
Visiting teachers - from Australia to the Americas in July 
Our global network had a refreshed connection in the new school term when we welcomed Simon Stewart from Australia, to lead students in contemporary indigenous movement, and Professor Alicia Guadalupe Martinez Alvarez (from Mexico) who lent insights into mask work.

ITI Theatre Forum 2016 (27 Aug)

Plaything of the Gods (8-10 Sep) 
For the first time, ITI’s final-year production heads to Malay Heritage Centre, in a re-telling of tales from the Ramayana and Mahabharata. A story of the mythic in contemporary times, tickets available at plaything.peatix.com
