Welcome to Daylight Saving,

We think!

Finally summer is on its way (or is it?) and the sun is shining or the rain is falling (delete either one on the day you receive this email).

With that in mind it might be time to think about getting fit for beach, bach or your summer holiday trip.

Fitness Suite Update:
If you have been avoiding us because of the reduced fitness suite hours we are pleased to say we are back to our normal times.  We know the reduced hours were a challenge for some people but hope that the normal opening time of 11 am will bring you back soon.
If you haven't used our facility for a while or have been considering using a gym, drop in and see how we compare to other full service gyms in the area. We are a low cost alternative to these gym but if you work it right you can save yourself $100's in gym fees
Open Hours:
Monday to Friday
11.00 am to 1.30 pm and 4.30 pm to 8.30 pm
9.00 am to 11.30 am and 4.30 pm to 7.30 pm
4.30 pm to 7.30 pm
New Gear
Following grant applications to the Mount Wellington Foundation and The Lion Foundation we have been able to replace 3 cross trainers with 3 sparkly new ones. Whilst they might look the same they are brand new Technogym elliptical trainers, a high end commercial brand, if its good enough for the big gyms it's good enough for us.
Without the support of both Mount Wellington Foundation and the Lion Foundation we wouldn't be able to operate at such a low cost and provide quality gear, As always a big thank you to our supporters.

Heart Rate Training
In some of our classes you can hire Polar Heart Rate Straps to can see how hard you are working in that class. At the end of the class we will then email you a pdf file of the session and then you can show your friends how hard you work at the gym.

More importantly you can see if you have worked at a level that is going to improve you fitness and work towards your goals.
Hire cost $1 per class.

Solar Energy at the Recreation Centre
18,000 kWh
generated so far this year
The centre has been generating its own power for the last 12 months and so far it's been a wise investment. We've dropped our power bill by almost a third and along with sensible use of power we hope to save a significant amount of energy in the long term.
What does going solar mean to you? Well apart from reducing our running costs it helps us work towards being a sustainable and environmentally friendly organisation. The cool thing is that we can see how much energy we have generated and what positive impact that has on the environment.

We used a company called ZEN energy to install our system and we have to say they have been pretty good to work with. If you are considering solar then check them out, Ask for Stefan and say Lee sent you. (they haven't paid us to say positive things, we've just had a good experience with them)
