FREE physio presentation - regain your core strength
Welcome to August!

Hi Buggy Bootcampers and welcome to the August edition of our Buggy Bootcamp newsletter.
With only one month of winter to go, the countdown is on until spring! How exciting, longer and even warmer days are coming!

We all know how important it is to look after our core and pelvic floor after birth right? A strong core and pelvis will mean less injuries from exercise and day to day activities, more confidence, and the ability to workout harder and faster! It is also imperative for if we decide it's time to go for baby number two!

We are fortunate to have Katie, a postnatal physiotherapist (who just happens to have looked after a couple of Buggy Bootcamp members, including me!) come to present to us on why we need a strong core and pelvic floor and how we can work to regain its strength post bub. Sound good? All you need to do is either wait around after your Buggy Bootcamp on Thursday 5th September or come along at 10:45am to Keirle Park for the talk which is free to all our Buggy Boot campers and friends.

And finally, remember that we have now launched our Back to Work membership which entitles working Mums to 15% off our once-a-week membership. We want you to keep moving on your days off with bub!

Let’s Get Moving
Diastasis recti

What is this abs separation I have been hearing about?  Abdominal separation is very common yet it is apparent quite a large proportion of pregnant women and new mums aren’t aware that their abs can separate during pregnancy.
The technical name is diastasis recti, which is defined as the separation of the rectus abdominal muscle caused by the stretching of the growing uterus. Women susceptible to it are over 35, have a baby with a high birth weight and interestingly have done excessive abdominal exercises during their first trimester. The good news is that we can repair and bring the abs back together. Of course we want to lose that post pregnancy pouch and flatten our tummy, but we also want to make sure we have a strong core for lifting bub, pushing the buggy and to help create good posture.

Click here to watch Sarah demonstrate 5 simple but effective exercises you can do at home to repair and strengthen your abdominals.
For more information or if you are concerned and would like to see a professional, please don’t hesitate to contact our preferred post natal physio, Katie Goodwin, from Balgowlah Sport and Dance Physio.  Or come along on 5th September after Bootcamp to meet Katie and ask all your questions then!

Raw Carrot Cake

This delish healthy and oh so healthy carrot cake is simple to make and only takes 10 minutes to mix up. The end result is a wonderful dense, moist cake that is full of flavour and the perfect afternoon snack or healthy dessert. Serve it up with some natural yogurt or ricotta and a drizzle of honey. Oh my mouth is watering just thinking about it!
