> DEVOTES 3rd Annual Meeting

3rd Annual meeting - 1-4 December, Lisbon

The 3rd DEVOTES Annual Meeting was hosted by the partner IMAR (Instituto do Mar) and took place in Lisbon (Portugal) from 1st to 4th December.
57 participants from 21 research institutes, academia and SME from different countries met to analyse the progress of DEVOTES and plan the next year’s activities and goals. Two members of the Advisory Board and 14 stakeholders have also attended the meeting, giving positive feedback on the work done by the Consortium so far and actively contributing to the discussion with a wide perspective.

3rd Ocean of Tomorrow Conference: What results so far for healthy and productive seas and oceans?

11 November 2015, European Commission (Brussel, Belgium).
The objectives of the conference were: to present the results of projects funded under the Seventh Framework Programme for Research and Technological Development (FP7) “The Ocean of Tomorrow” call 2012 which aimed at supporting the implementation of the Marine Strategy Framework Directive (2008/56/EC) and the achievement of “Good Environment Status” (GES) of EU waters by 2020 to envisage how these results can contribute to innovative solutions to improve the overall health and productivity of seas and oceans to capitalise on these results for new research and innovation strategies and actions to reduce pollution on land and at sea and to preserve coasts, seas and oceans '.

17th Global Meeting of the Regional Seas Conventions and Action Plans

20-23 October 2015, Istanbul, Turkey

The result of DEVOTES have been presented by Dr Angel Borja at the 17th Global Meeting of the Regional Seas Conventions, hosted by UNEP.

The DEVOTES Dissemination Team has prepared a set of posters and information materials that will be available for the delegates. A dedicated panel series on the Regional Seas have been produced and are available here for download.

> First Meeting of the Regional Seas Indicators Working Group

23 October 2015, Istanbul, Turkey

Alice Newton (NILU) and Kemal Can Bizsel (DEU) represented DEVOTES at the First Meeting of the Regional Seas Indicators Working Group, held at the Renaissance Istanbul Bosphorus Hotel, Istanbul, Turkey. The meeting was hosted by UNEP and attended by representative of most Regional Seas. The contributions made by the DEVOTES project were much appreciated and, as an outcome, DEVOTES was invited to participate in the Working Group developing the Regional Seas indicators. Furthermore, several Regional Seas representatives expressed an interest in capacity building workshops for the demonstration of DEVOTES tools.
