2019 Fish 2.0 entries are the most innovative yet

We've been working with a new wave of businesses to Fish 2.0, and they’re the most mature and innovative yet. They’re bringing a raft of technologies to market—for marine and land-based aquaculture, sustainable fishing, traceability and transparency, and climate resilience. They’re also tackling supply chain, waste reduction, and packaging challenges. It bodes well for improved ocean health and seafood markets, and for an opportunity-rich Global Innovators Forum this fall (see below).

A few key indicators from our 2018–19 Fish 2.0 cycle thus far:

  • We’ve worked with almost 200 sustainable seafood ventures from 33 countries.
  • We received 150 applications to Fish 2.0 and 90 percent were eligible.
  • Over 100 ventures have successfully completed Part 1 of the online Readiness Assessment—we’re eager to get a look at their Part 2 submissions.
  • Over half of the ventures are working on innovations related to aquaculture.

Investors and experts:
volunteer to be an online judge

Are you an investor intrigued by the seafood sector? A seafood expert who wants to see what’s next? A few hours of online time (you know how that flies by) will reward you with:

  1. Early access to deals in the sector
  2. Priority access and discounted tickets to the Fish 2.0 Global Innovators Forum
  3. A chance to help grow the sustainable seafood industry
How it works:
  • Apply online here.
  • Score entries online at any time during the 10-day judging period in early August.
  • Fish 2.0 provides scoring criteria, and judges are anonymous.
  • Each entry takes about 30 to 40 minutes to review and score—about the time it takes to initially screen a new deal.
  • Judges are free to pursue deals with the businesses they score.
