High Quality and Innovative Ventures are Changing Sustainable Seafood
The first phase of Fish 2.0 2017 closed April 29th—and we are bowled over by the quality of this year’s applicants. These businesses have promising approaches and technologies, and are ready for growth. Our competition advisors are going to be intrigued and impressed. And at the finals, judges are going to have truly tough decisions to make.
One reflection of this year’s strength is that a notable number of entrants say they’re participating in Fish 2.0 even though they already have raised investment funds for their current rounds—they’re in it for the powerful industry connections that can be made in the competition process. Read more about the impacts of Fish 2.0 connections on finalists here.
161 Ventures Will Compete in Fish 2.0 2017
We accepted 161 applications, fairly evenly distributed over our six regional and two global tracks: Chile and Peru, New England (U.S.), Pacific Islands, Southeast Asia, South Atlantic and Gulf Coast Shellfish (U.S.), West Coast (U.S.), Transparency and Traceability, and Supply Chain Innovation. The entries also reflect Fish 2.0’s increasingly worldwide nature: at least half are based outside the U.S.
