Dear Friends,

I hope that all of you are safe and sound and did not suffer any substantial loss as a result of Hurricane Ian. As always, your well-being is of primary concern to your friends at FSB.

Although “Meet Me at the Barre” had to be delayed to October 10th due to the hurricane, we had good attendance for our inaugural event of the 2022 - 2023 season.  Our own Iain Webb, the good Iain, introduced the staff and dancers from the Company as we sipped champagne and enjoyed delicious food. It was a treat to be able to connect with old friends, talk to the staff and dancers, and make new friends. As always, Iain and the dancers charmed the audience and whetted our appetites for the upcoming season.

One of our most popular Friends’ events is the showcase luncheons. Several luncheons were sold out last year due to popular demand. If you wish to ensure that you will have a seat at all of the luncheons, you may purchase our new offering of a Quintet of Showcase Luncheons which will guarantee you a seat at all five luncheons this season at a discounted price of $185.00.The Quintet reservation form is included in the reservation form you received with the Friends of the Sarasota Ballet directory. If you require assistance making your Quintet purchase, please contact Amy Wensley at 941-225-6523 or email events@sarasotaballet.org

Our first showcase luncheon of the season will be on Monday, November 21st at Michael’s on East. One of my personal favorite programs will be presented: “Playing a Principal Role“. Iain will host a panel of some of our Principal Dancers who will share interesting anecdotes about their careers and lives. We may even have the opportunity to engage in a question-and-answer session with the presenters. If you wish to buy a seat for this luncheon please make sure to make your reservation early by contacting Amy Wensley at 941-225-6523.

Principal Dancers of The Sarasota Ballet

Please save the date for our December 19th showcase luncheon which will be an opportunity for us to celebrate the holidays together. We also have some surprises planned for the event that I think you will enjoy.

I hope that you were able to attend and enjoy the first performance of the season – a triple bill that included works choreographed by our own Ricardo Graziano and Richard House as well as a piece choreographed by Gemma Bond, formerly of The Royal Ballet and American Ballet Theatre. I am happy to tell you that your support of the Friends allowed us to co-sponsor this performance. I find it especially exciting that the Friends supported a program that encompasses the Company’s commitment to growing its repertoire and embracing young new talent while still keeping a firm grasp on the beloved masterpieces we all enjoy.

Ricardo Graziano's The Pilgrimage

You should have received the FSB directory for the current season. Please be sure to review it for information on upcoming events. The directory also contains contact information for your fellow friends. It is a great resource to help you keep connected to the Board of  FSB as well as the old and new friends who you meet at events and performances.

I look forward to seeing you soon and, as always, thank you for being a Friend.

Warmest regards,

Patricia Golemme
