Dear Friends,
As we welcome in the New Year, I want to thank you for your continued support and membership of the Friends of The Sarasota Ballet.
I hope you were able to attend our December Holiday Luncheon, which was a joyous event in celebration of Friends - old and new. A very big thank you to our talented Board member, Bruce Ensinger for presenting a wonderful seasonal program of holiday classics, including audience participation. The Twelve Days of Christmas had everyone participating and enjoying the sing-along. To the delight of the attendees, the event ended with several free drawings of special gifts, The Sarasota Ballet logo merchandise and a book signing from member, Sue Peterson, who traveled from England to join the festivities. As smiling faces departed, we could hear a familiar refrain in the air, "Let's do this again next year!"
Thank you, Donna Maytham and your team for creating a wonderful afternoon.

Those of us who were fortunate to attend The Nutcracker performance either in Sarasota or in Venice, were treated to a lovely gift for the holidays. The Nutcracker was the first full-length ballet in the Sarasota Ballet School's repertoire with performances by the Sarasota Ballet School, The Margaret Barbieri Conservatory, and Dance-The Next Generation. Also participating, were two dancers from the Company, Thomas Leprohon and Juliano Weber.

The cast included dancers from the age of 4 to 72! The "tots" delighted the audience whenever they were on stage. Each performance ended with a joyous standing ovation in hopes that the Nutcracker will become a yearly tradition for the students. Christopher Hird, Education Director was most appreciative for all the hours the Friends members volunteered, from sewing costumes to backstage assistance.
