This Tuesday's Generosity Idea

Today is #WorldWaterDay and we're thinking about how everyone on the planet should have access to safe, clean drinking water. Yet 1 in 9 people around the world don't have access to clean water. And it’s not just a problem in developing nations.

In the United States, health risks from drinking water also impact marginalized communities of color, people in remote rural areas, and indigeneous communities. UN’s Sustainable Development Goal 6 calls to ensure universal and equitable access to safe and affordable drinking water, sanitation, and hygiene for all by 2030. Things you can do to help:

🗣️ Lend your voice to talk about the lack of toilets and safe drinking water in many communities around the world. Contact government officials and use your social media platform for advocacy.
👆 Follow + support activists working in this space like @LittleMissFlint, @georgiebadiel, @autumn.peltier, @gitanjaliarao
🚰 Don't overuse water. Make sure to close a tap when washing dishes, take short showers - Bathtubs require gallons more water than a 5-10 minute shower. Consider getting a water meter to be aware of your water usage.
💵 Give to organizations like @WaterForPeople, @WaterIsLife, @thirstProject, @h2oForLife, @DropInTheBucket, @WaterAidAmerica, @BloodWaterMission, @Water, @CharityWater, @WaterFirstNGO

When we share our generosity, it inspires others to give too. Add to the #GivingTuesday hashtag today. Let's use our power of generosity to create meaningful change and strengthen our bond of human connection.
